Whenever possible, I like to make gifts for others, especially for family. Homemade gifts mean so much more than ones purchased in a store. Even last year, when Jordan was still a newborn, I did my best to prepare small homemade gifts to send back to NB with Mum.
I just came upon this "project" yesterday... this man and his family decided to move beyond the crazy materialism of Christmas and make presents for each other and donate the money they would have spent to a small, poor village on the other side of the world. The Mother Letter Project is this man's incredibly sweet and loving present for his wife (he's anonymous so the project will be a surprise...) This is his description:
"I am creating my wife’s Christmas present-the Mother Letter Project. Simply stated, I am collecting a series of “open letters” from mothers, to mothers. Share your stories—no matter how raw or difficult. Share you concerns—no matter how foolish they may seem. Share your wisdom—no matter how you came by it. Share your mother story. The only request? Start the letter “Dear Mother” and sign it. I will compile all of the letters in a Christmas book for my wife. If you share a letter here or by email (motherletter@gmail.com) before Christmas, you'll get your own copy of the letters."
What a special way for him to show how much he loves and appreciates his wife...
I'm planning to write a letter... are you in too?
