Dressing Up

Here is little Miss Abby as a bunny. She was going to go as "Dora" & Jude was going to be "Boots" (for those of you not up on Dora the Explorer, she is a 7 year old cartoon girl who speaks Spanish & English & has a best friend named "Boots" the monkey). However, Abby was a little freaked out by the black wig we got for her to wear AND I couldn't find any orange pants to complete the costume, so.... she was a bunny.
And what a cute little bunny she was.... Her cuteness worked for her as she got A LOT of treats for the very few houses we went to in our neighbourhood.
Here's Jude the monkey... if Halloween were in a couple of weeks, this costume would not have cut it. We had to squeeze him into it!
Jude was on a bit of a sleep strike today, so by 6 pm rolled around, he was just about done for the day. He has been enjoying his Halloween soothers that Auntie Joan gave him. Posted by Picasa

Abby's Buggy Room

This is Abby in her "buggy room" (our former bedroom... it used to be "fiddlehead green" with cream trim and gold and rose accents...now it's orange & bright green with bug accents!). When we were shopping for her "big girl bed" at IKEA in Toronto, I thought that she would choose a cute pink princess-type duvet cover (okay, I admit, I wanted her to choose a cute pink princess-type duvet cover...) Abby chose bugs. It took some creativity, but we now have a buggy room! Abby painted the pictures on the wall (there is a "ladybug" painting above the "bumblebee" & "spider" paintings).
The leaf over her bed (our version of a canopy) and the curtains also came from IKEA. Abby calls the green shag rug her "grass".
Abby decided that she wanted the dragonflies and the butterfly that she painted to go beside her bed, under her leaf.

Abby playing with the dollhouse Uncle Len built for her for last Christmas. Her cousin Joey helped furnish it for her. Today she moved it out from the wall so her dolls could get out the door to play outside. The window seat opens & houses all of Abby's stuffed friends. She calls it her "treasure chest". Posted by Picasa

Bathtime!

I can maybe get used to this bath thing.... that doesn't mean I have to smile though...

This is what happened last time Mummy tried to give me a bath... I was NOT happy.
Here's me today and Abby when she was 5 months old. I think I look like me sister!
I was pretty tired after my bath... this is my bunny. I like to hold onto his ear and wave him around like crazy! Posted by Picasa

The Addition (Part 8)

Jon looking out our family room window. He has spent the last few days sheathing & building the west wall of the second story.
View from the south east corner of our lot.

This will be where our new front door will be. The office window (in the part of the existing house closest to the addition) will overlook our new open front porch (not built yet). Posted by Picasa

Discovering & Learning...

Jude loves playing with his crinkly books these days. He particularly enjoys throwing them off his exersaucer for us to retrieve for him! It's so neat to see him change & discover new things every day. He's also nearly rolling over. Today when he was on the floor, he rolled from his back to his side so he could watch his big sister Abby play.

Abby painted some wooden bugs to go in her "buggy room". She did a great job! She very carefully painted each section the color that she wanted. Posted by Picasa

The Addition Part 7

Today we worked on sheathing the first floor. A friend took care of Abby (thanks Angela!), we took Jude's monitor outside (he sleeps most of the morning), and I helped Jon. It was fun to be outside, helping build our house! I just need a pair of workboots, work gloves that fit, and my very own set of funky orange ear protectors & I'll be all set to help again. The Addition Part 6

Here's the posts for the front porch.
Oops!! The skid steer got stuck up against the house when it started to sink in the soil where Jon had backfilled. We had to have a tow truck come pull it out! Posted by Picasa

Walk in the Woods (Part 2)

Abby did great walking, but needed to hitch a ride with Mummy part of the way there and with Daddy part of the way back.

Abby & Daddy playing "tag" on the way back from the Falls.

Sleepy boy... now that Jude's not in his bucket seat, it's not quite so easy for him to nap while we're out. This morning he didn't sleep at all while we were at church (he usually sleeps 3-4 hours at home in the am).

Abby & Jude in the backpack. Abby is about 6 months old in this picture. Jude is 4 1/2 months. Posted by Picasa

A Walk in the Woods

Today was the annual church family walk in the woods & Jude's first time in the backpack! We went up to High Falls at Pigeon River (at the US/Canada border).

Big Boy Car Seat

"I'm not so sure about this Mummy...." Yesterday was Jude's first day in his big boy car seat. He's already outgrown his little bucket seat!

Getting a little more comfortable....a little smile for Mummy. Posted by Picasa

SNOW!! (The Addition Part 5)

Here's Jon working in the snow! Doesn't it seem a little early!!
Jon's working on hanging and bracing the floor joists for the second story. This overhanging part will be the balcony off our bedroom.

It's REALLY snowing now...hopefully it doesn't stay too long. We still haven't bought Abby winter boots (or a snow suit for that matter...) Posted by Picasa

Little Princess (with sharp ears!)

Abby is getting funnier each day... last night I made a comment to Jon that I really wanted a coffee and something sweet. Abby, who was playing with some little animals figures said, without even looking up, "I have nothing for you; this is not a candy store!" If she, on the rare occassion misses something that we've said, she'll say, "Excuse me Mummy, I didn't hear you". Posted by Picasa
