Before I was a Mum

I've always loved this email forward, so I thought I would share it along with some of my favourite pictures of me with the kids...
" Before I was a Mom:
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom: I had never been thrown up on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom: I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom: I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew how much I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom: I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom: I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom. "

Life Update

We've added some new pictures to our web album from the last few weeks http://picasaweb.google.com/lezgomes

It's been a little hectic here at the Gomer house... I started back at my doctoral internship at the Children's Centre 3 half days a week on March 5. The kids are happy with Mrs. Angela, I'm enjoying my new placement with the Family Services team and we're finally getting into a routine.

This past week was more challenging with Josh & Jonah's birthdays, the anniversary of Josh's death, and Good Friday (the day that Jonah passed away) but we're doing okay. We have been so richly blessed by all 5 of our children. Abby was so excited to celebrate the boys' birthdays and wanted to make kitty cupcakes for them. We sang happy birthday to them and talked about what they might be doing in Heaven (Abby thinks that the angels made them birthday cakes this year). They would have been 5 years old. It's hard to believe that it's already been that long! I've added a couple new pictures to their blog as well.

The addition is coming along... Jon works late into the evening every night. Right now he's working on the 3rd coat of drywall mud. We'll hopefully get to painting over the next couple of weeks. He's also been preparing the reclaimed hardwood that we found at a yard sale for installation. It was previously on a squash court so the bottom of the wood has glue that needs to be chiselled off before the top can be planed. He had a couple friends over yesterday to help which made the process go faster (and gave him company!)

The weather is warming up and the snow is melting (not that we have much at all...) There is hope of Spring after a long cold winter! My laundry room has a stream of water flowing down from the back door. It's incentive to keep up on my laundry!

Jordan is growing so fast! He'll be 4 months old next Sunday. He's such a little sweetheart :) He very much likes sleeping with Mummy and Daddy, but will sleep in his swing as well. If it's not moving or doesn't have a warm body to curl up to, Jordan would rather not sleep in it. I don't really mind that much... he's very snuggley.

The boys hanging out

Jordan slept through most of the Easter brunch this morning, but enjoyed a cuddle with his big brother Jude shortly before we left to go home.

Happy Easter

We went over to the Setala's for an Easter Brunch and Easter Egg hunt this morning. Here are some pictures of the kids hunting and finding yummy chocolate eggs!

Jordan has a wide range of expressions, which change in an instant! He's a very social little guy :)
