December...

We decided that this was the year to go and cut down our own Christmas tree. After carefully chosing the perfect Gomes family tree...
...Jon cut it down while the kids supervised.

Then we set it up and decorated... there was a brief break in the decorating when a sheep lost its legs when dropped by one of the little Gomers. There was a slightly longer break while I attempted to reattach the tiny legs with crazy glue. It became an extended break when I realized that my thumb was firmly attached to one of the tiny legs and the bottom of the sheep.

Then there was Jude and Jordan's Kindergarten Christmas concert and Abby's Primary French Immersion Christmas concert...

Some reindeer games around the Gomes household (even though we don't do Santa)...

...kindergarten field trips to a local farm where the kids participate in a living Nativity. Jude was a king, Jordan was a shepherd. The kids got to do a craft, go on a sleigh ride, visit the animals, and have a snack as well. It would have been perfect had the boys been able to go at the same time... I thought this was the case until I read their permission slips more carefully and realized that the SK classes were going in the morning and the JK classes in the afternoon. I spent all day at the farm and participated in the same program twice... first with Jude, then with Jord :)

School went until Dec. 23 so Christmas Eve came quickly! We went to our Christmas Eve service and then had friends over for appetizers.

... Then it was Christmas and we celebrated the birth of our Saviour with our little family and a friend who joined us from southern Ontario.

We've never had a tree-skirt, so we made one this year... it will be fun to look back and see how small the kids' handprints were in December 2011 :)

Our little family

...expanded to fit a friend.
