This is our kitchen. I've known for a while that the chimney was behind the wall, but I haven't been brave enough to uncover it. We kinda have our hands full with house renovations right now :-) I took this project on myself (Abby joined me in my quest "to find bricks"). She "helped" me pry off the first big piece and then said, "wow Mummy, you're really strong!" How cute is that?

This is part of the wall I removed...

Okay, I wasn't quite expecting a "cave", as Abby calls it, beside the chimney. We'll figure out a good use for it. Maybe we'll use it for some duct work to go upstairs or perhaps build some shelves along the counter.

I still have to cut the rest of the drywall and board from behind the cupboard, but it's cleaned up for now. It was pretty messy, but demolition was fun! I had to scrub the floor anyway. Might as well make it
really dirty before washing it :-) This was MUCH more productive than the nap I had planned!

It looks much better than that old fiberboard stuff. Good job.
