Pantry

When we first bought our house, 8 1/2 years ago, this is what our pantry looked like.... we painted, added a real counter top and called it good.  Then we started building the addition and both the pantry and the office became inaccessable.  My pantry became storage for tools, wood, construction garbage, etc....  I eventually got my pantry back, but it was in rough shape with holes in the ceiling and cupboards with peeling lead paint.

When we started the kitchen renos over Christmas, we decided that we might as well tackle the pantry as well (if the house is already full of 100 year old dirt and dry-wall dust, it's better to do it all at once!)

Our food ended up in a pile of boxes in our family room and in our basement.  Needless to say, I made several trips to both rooms to make a single meal.

This past weekend, Jon was able to finish my pantry.

I love it!  I love being able to see everything.  I love seeing my jars of spices and dried goods.  I love the unfinished pine.  I love the rustic old boards behind the spices.  I love that what used to be a window to our side yard (which would now "look" into our addition) is now built-in shelves for our canned goods and all my cookbooks.

Sometimes I just stand and look at everything so nicely in its place.

I love my amazing husband who made my pantry, and our bed, and built me a house, and my office, and...  thank you my love.

Gorgeous! I love that it's such simple things (like seeing food needly organized on beautiful shelves!) that bring joy to the heart... Enjoy!
