Our little girl

Tuesday night Jon and I attended an information night for parents of children entering Kindergarten this fall.
As we found seats in the gym of the school Abby would likely be attending (St. Bernard), a slide show of Kindergarten children played on the screen. Tears rolled down my cheeks. It's a good thing the program started shortly after...before I really started crying. Heads up, I'll be a basketcase on her first day of school. I'm tearing up even as I type!!

We're considering the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board because it emphasizes Christian values as well as academic excellence.

Abby is such an amazing little girl, a little girl passionate about kitties. Tuesday night at the school, they had a table at which we could choose a book to take home. I chose a kitty book for Abby. I took it up to her when we got home. Her eyes danced as she said, "Mummy, how did they know that I like kitties?" Such innocence! We've been chatting about Kindergarten, what she will do, taking the bus, etc. She's already getting so excited.

I'm mostly excited for her, but a little sad that my days at home with her are numbered. How did the time go by so quickly?

She's nearly done her rest time and it's time for me to go prepare for making rice krispie squares. Maybe we'll have a chance to play "Deep dark woods" with her where she sneaks through the forest and the "monster kitty" chases and tickles her (a game she made up for us all to play) or have a "polly date". Maybe we can turn the living room into a mud pit with blankets and couch cushions and "super kitty" can rescue me and Jude with her "big 'ole hook". Yup, I'm going to miss her when she goes to school (even though she will only attend Mon & Wed or Tues & Thurs, plus every other Friday). I'm going to do my best to savour our "home days"! I feel your pain Lezlie. We're enrolled Kazia in school for the fall as well. The catholic system operates differently here - she'd likely not get it. We have a meeting next week about Kindergarten. Yikes! We held her back a year as well, and I'll still be sad to see her go. *sniff*
